Heading to your favorite spa or mobile sauna? Bring your pefletti!

When traveling in Finland several years ago we frequented many public saunas; each had their own ambiance, all had amazing heat! Some establishments were BYOT (bring your own towels) while others provided each bather with a pefletti and a towel – use the pefletti in the sauna and save your towel for your shower. Roughly translated from the Finnish, with the help of Wikipedia, pefletti combines “peffa”, referring to one’s bum, and “tabletti”, meaning placemat. A pefletti  protects your bum from the hot bench and the bench from your sweaty bum. They are easy to carry in and out of the sauna, easy to rinse with cool water during your cool down.
