Handwoven Bookmarks
Every good read deserves a handwoven bookmark.
I periodically delve into band weaving, intrigued by the never ending array of colors, patterns and structures. I dabble most in tablet weaving, fascinated by its long and rich history in many cultures; in Finland it dates back to the Iron Age. The technique employs wood, leather or, in my case, cardboard tablets to create intricate and colorful designs by turning and flipping the cards. Bookmarks allow me to sample a myriad of repeating motifs on a single warp.
